NYC Shut It Down (Black Lives Matter:NYC) resumed their weekly Peoples Monday demonstrations in 2016, convening in Grand Central last evening to protest the killing of India Kager, a 27 year old Navy veteran and mother of two young boys. She was unarmed and driving with her boyfriend, Angelo Perry, and their four month old son when four officers fired thirty rounds, killing Kager and Perry instantly.
BLM began their demonstration in Grand Central Station under the main clock, and soon moved downstairs to the food court, where they presented the facts of her case. From there they took to the streets, where NYPD’s new strategic response group arrested lead organizer Patrick Waldo for “Harassment in the first degree.”
