After spending 11 days visiting the US, a UN group issued a report stating that the U.S. falls behind international standards in women’s health, public and political representation, and lack economic and social rights. Key issues included reproductive and maternity rights, lack of female elected officials, and the 21% wage gap between men and women. Additionally, the U.S. has agreed to ratify the Convention on the Elimination of All of Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW), yet remains one of only seven nations which has failed to do so to date.
