Air Force colonel charged with rape and multiple sexual assaults in Colorado

Col. Eugene Caughey, 23 year veteran of the Air Force, has been charged by military prosecutors with a number of sex crimes dating back to 2013.  Among them, the allegation of a violent rape, two occasions of groping women, six counts of adultery and of photographing his genitals while in uniform.  Caughey was formerly second in command at the 50th Space Wing at Schriever Air Force Base.

The Colorado Springs Gazette reports:

A spokesman at Peterson Air Force Base said the military won’t answer questions about Caughey, who is scheduled for a March 17 hearing to determine if there’s sufficient evidence for a court-martial.

“To protect the rights of Col. Caughey and the integrity of ongoing legal proceedings, no other information about the case will be released at this time,” Capt. William Russell said in an email.

The Schriever Air Force Base website claims that Col. Caughey is also a survivor of the 9/11 attacks on the Pentagon.
